French-sational Design: A Step-by-Step Guide to Bringing a Room to Life
One of our longtime clients recently asked us to redesign her family room. She loves bold colors, and we always enjoy the creative collaboration we share with her.
Since it’ll be a few months before we have photos of the new space, we thought it would be fun to revisit how we designed her living room- a different room, but the same thoughtful design process:
- Clarify how the space will be used
- Plan the layout
- Create a mood board
- Review the concept
- Start with the rug
- Select furniture, lighting & accessories
- Present, revise & order
- Install – and celebrate!
In this case, the living room was part of an addition. We designed the bookcases and worked with her wishes for a bright, happy space with yellow and green accents.
We used a rug with subdued primary colors with a fun motif. And selected furniture with bold colors and scale that fit the space.
The furniture and layout were thoughtfully scaled to complement the expansive living room, ensuring balance and cohesion within the space framed by custom built-ins
