COMMERCIAL: Ohio Steel Sheet & Plate

The owner and chairman of Ohio Steel Sheet & Plate asked us to design a new office space for the company’s sales team. His goal was to recognize their contribution to the company’s success by providing them with a modern, beautiful, and comfortable workplace.

The chosen location was the unfinished second floor of a building the company had constructed a few years earlier. The chairman’s brief included individual offices, a large conference room, and a welcoming common area for informal meetings. Inspiration images reflected a natural, organic aesthetic with wood and earthy tones.

We collaborated with Paul Rosenblatt and Bill Szustak of Springboard Design Architects on the layout. Their design softened the space with a curved glass wall for the conference room, glass office partitions to spread daylight throughout, framed entrances for the company logo, and a striking steel feature wall fabricated by the client’s own team.

Our design team further integrated the company’s identity by incorporating its signature metal sheet pattern into the common area wall and the kitchenette backsplash. Echoing the curved glass wall, we softened the edges of the columns, kept the overall palette light, and grounded the environment with wood accents and plants. Each office was given a deep blue feature wall for a calm yet distinctive touch.

The common area welcomes team members and guests with furniture that feels both casual and refined. Light wood pieces throughout reinforce the organic, airy character of the design.

Lighting was another key element. Partnering with Simply Automated, we sourced lighting, shades, and sound masking system to ensure comfort and functionality.

Today, the sales team enjoys working in their new offices and takes pride in maintaining the space pristine. We are grateful for the collaboration with our Client, Architects, and  DeSalvo Construction—together making the process fun, creative, and efficient in bringing this project to life.
