COMMERCIAL: GENERAL CARBIDE 1ST FLOOR
Designing a company’s headquarters is a special honor. This project was particularly exciting because the building, which had been vacant for years, was to be transformed into a vibrant workspace spanning 17,000 square feet over two floors, plus an expanded plant facility.
From the outset, we knew our design needed to honor the company’s rich history while embracing the future. Collaborating closely with the CEO, we wove the company’s core values and brand colors into every element of the design. This close partnership ensured that the design reflected every team member’s contribution to the company’s success.
We meticulously selected materials that resonated with General Carbide’s industry and used organic colors to create a soothing environment. To maximize natural light, we strategically placed new windows and enlarged existing ones, bathing the workspaces in sunlight.
Our role encompassed transforming everything from architectural details to finishes, lighting, and furniture. For the first-floor offices, adjacent to the plant, we chose furniture that mirrored the company’s red and black logo. The cafeteria, rebranded as "The Café," features calming green walls and live-edge tables, offering a peaceful retreat for machinists who spend long hours on their feet.
To truly embody the company’s values and inspire creativity, we incorporated artwork that brings these principles to life. Tooling photos were reimagined as pop art, adding a playful and engaging element. Throughout the space, every detail serves as a reminder of the company’s core values, seamlessly blending history with innovation.
