This time of year it’s important to create space and time for ourselves to preserve and regenerate our energy.
With the holidays are upon us, even thinking about the to-do lists can create some stress. Holidays bring emotions, to-do lists and potential exhaustion. How can we re-frame the holidays to enjoy them?
We can appreciate the opportunity to gather with family and friends to give thanks for all the good in our lives and enjoy great food.
And we can lean into the spaces that create solitude and peace.
A simple way to find a space to relax, is by creating an inviting corner in a room. It can be as simple as a chair with a side table, or a sofa with a lamp, a favorite framed photograph, and flowers.
There is nothing more reinvigorating than taking a walk in nature. We can bring that feeling in our home by integrating earthy elements in our décor. This can be achieved with natural stone, plants and even grounding color palettes.
For those that really need an escape, prioritizing something like an in-home yoga room would work wonders. Despite the lack of natural light, creating a room like this in your basement truly feels soothing and inviting. To keep this space grounded we used elements of nature: bamboo flooring, a fresh green paint color on the walls and ceiling, and added plants. The blue mats add just the perfect touch of contrast.
