RESIDENTIAL: DISCO TO ART DECO

Our clients purchased a sprawling condominium overlooking the stadiums in Pittsburgh.

It was designed in the 1980s and is symbolic of that era with curved crown molding, glass block walls with neon lights, and glossy finishes.

The space needed many updates but the clients requested that we keep the marble floor and curved crown. We embraced the curves and decided to balance them with linear architectural elements to create an art deco envelope. We added moldings on all doors and columns, wainscotting on the walls. We widened the entryway and custom-built the wooden door to make the entry stand out.

The kitchen was totally re-invented to maximize the space. The bar has a custom art deco base and a lit glass top with a multicolored design created by melted metal pieces. The new curved ceiling above further defines the space.

We kept the original bookcases in the main room and divided the space into a game area and a TV/family room. The clients’ artwork collection fits perfectly in their new home adding the perfect finishing touch.

Our clients have decided to move. The investment they made into the interior design and renovation of the penthouse is allowing them to list the luxury property for $1,950,000. To view the listing, CLICK HERE.
